A complex interferometer like the AEI 10 m prototype can be divided into various sub-systems. They have been designed step by step by numerous PhD students and postdocs over many years. Some of them are already installed in the vacuum system, while some are still under construction. The combination of carefully set parameters of each exchangeable sub-system makes the detector work under certain conditions. The most important sub-systems are described in short on this website.
